Centrifugal separators, also known as “cyclones”, “cyclone separators” or “cyclone filters”, are used to separate solid or liquid particles contained in gases (example exhaust gas cleaning) or to separate solid particles contained in liquids.

The gases / liquids are made to rotate by a suitable design of the separator and by their own flow velocity. The centrifugal forces acting on the particles accelerate them radially outward, as a result of which they are separated from the gas flow or liquid flow which is conducted in and out.
